Ashley Cefali was born in April of 1996 in Macomb, MI, USA. She grew up in the small town of Armada until attending Grand Valley State University. She studied towards a bachelor’s degree in photography and a minor in statistics.

She began taking pictures at the age of fifteen after finding interest in the art of her brother’s sporting events. After that point, she became fascinated with the formalism of athletes - the unintended shapes of the body that happens so effortlessly. The excitement that comes with capturing an image that tries to captivate an action at its highest point to share with everyone is always fulfilling.

Ashley believes that Sports Photography is a constant challenge within each game by only having one small opportunity to retrieve the perfect image before it disappears forever.

Ashley’s works are mostly sports photography, but her other work usually consists of images that display a scene but reveal a deeper meaning to shine a new light on easily overlooked views. “I enjoy showing people something they can see on a daily basis, but don’t take the time to fully see it for all that it is.”  Although she does have a large passion for sports photography, studying photography at Grand Valley has aloud her to see that any chance she has to create images, express her creativity, and move people she will be happy.
